Walking track construction.
We build walking tracks in national parks, World Heritage rainforest, alpine country and on coastal headlands. Most carry high visitation, sit in sensitive environments, and have to be built with minimal disturbance to the ground either side.
Getting material to site.
Most of these sites have no vehicle access. On the Mt Stirling Summit Walk over 200 tonnes of material was delivered by helicopter and the team finished the work in sub zero temperatures. At Lizard Island the crew and hand tools flew in by light aircraft. Mossman Gorge and Earl Hill were helicopter jobs as well.
We’re set up for helicopter-assisted delivery and it’s a regular part of how this work gets done.
Materials.
Timber steps rot and need replacing, so where the budget allows, we build in natural stone.
On the Red Arrow Walking Track in Cairns, we removed the old timber steps and replaced them with porphyry stone, swapped the low-level boardwalks and bridges for FRP structures, and laid an asphalt overlay over the existing surface. The track sees daily visitation, and the brief called for materials with longer lifespans and lower maintenance.

Class 1 accessible tracks.
A Class 1 rating sets limits on grade, width, surface and landings, and the track has to meet them along its whole length.
At Twin Kauris, Lake Barrine, we demolished an existing timber viewing platform and installed a Class 1 wheelchair accessible elevated FRP structure, along with stone retaining walls and concrete path. Strict guidelines applied in that rainforest environment and ground disturbance had to be kept to a minimum. We completed the car park works as well.
