Red Arrow Walking Track

Contour Works was engaged by Cairns Regional Council to renew the eastern and lower western sections of the Red Arrow Walking Track.

The track carries high visitation every day of the year, so the design intent was to use materials with longer life spans and cut the ongoing maintenance burden. The old timber steps were removed and replaced with natural porphyry stone, existing low level boardwalks and bridges were replaced with FRP structures, and an asphalt overlay was laid over the existing track surface.

With only a handful of access points for getting materials on site, this was a logistically demanding project. The team was proud to deliver a high quality track the local community will use for decades.
