Cooks Look Track Lizard Island

Contour Works was engaged to undertake critical repairs on Lizard Island’s Cooks Look walking track in the middle of the Great Barrier Reef. This class 5 walking track climbs over 300 meters within a length of 2KM, where walkers are forced to scramble up granite boulder slabs and many stairs. The remote location of this project required charter planes to access the island and only small opportunities to barge supplies and equipment to the island, so careful management was paramount. Our crew lived in canvas tents for the duration of the project. We worked tirelessly to install hundreds of natural stone stairs by hand and install drainage to bring the track to a safer standard while leaving it challenging for the adventurous people walking this track.
